This was definitely one of the more daunting crochet challenges.

When I first saw the reference picture I knew I had to get the pants and the hair right. Somehow the pants were easier! No one has better hair than peak John Morrison.

But here’s how I tackled it. I first tried to find a black fluffy yarn that could be used for the pants and for the coat. This was difficult because anything too thick would look bulky and disproportionate to the 8 inch wrestler. I ended up going with an eyelash variety that i’ll link below. When crocheting the pants I layered that yarn with the usual black yarn I use. I definitely approve of the look of those two yarns together.

To get the details on the pants, I grabbed my ipad and drew them as best as I could. I printed them on heat transfer paper and ironed them onto black felt. I then cut the pieces and glued them onto the legs. I use a similar method for the belt.

For the coat I again used the two black yarns. It’s hard to see in the picture but i did a row of layered yarn and then a row of only black acrylic yarn and kept switching. I used some stick on metal studs to add detail to the coat. This is also hard to see. I forget to take good pictures.

And with his litte glasses on, he actually doesn’t look all that bad.
