This past week was the last week my cousin and grandparents stayed with us. We did a lot of shopping (for them) and went to the Garfield Park Conservatory. That place is amazing every single time. They all really enjoyed their scenic and warm walk amongst plants from all over the world, some common and some endangered. I think I need to incorporate more greens into my diet because some of those leafs looked kinda tasty.
That being said, I did not get to do any crochet work at all this week. I was however able to catch up with some graphic design work I had in the queue. yay!
Now that it’s Monday, everything is back to the usual. My mom’s house is quiet except for the sounds of the dog pacing back and forth as if looking for our guests. I sit at my own house half expecting to get a text from my sister to plan our next little outing. WrestleMania is over and I’m left feeling a little empty as if there’s nothing else to wait for. However I now have time to get back to crocheting at full speed. I know there are people anxiously awaiting their new crochet buddy.
new chapter, New guitar
When I was about 19 I picked up a copy of Inked Magazine, or some other tattoo magazine, with Nikki Lane on the cover. She quickly became a big fave of mine and I was inspired to buy a guitar myself. I didn’t, I was too impatient. I hit up my neighbor and asked if I could borrow his. After a few weeks I did buy my own off of craigslist. I took an hour plus trip, bus and train, to the north side of the city. I met a girl at a street corner, gave her some cash, and boom I had my own guitar. I learned basic chords and strumming patterns and wrote like 2 or 3 songs. About a year later I met a guy I started dating. Long story short, it became HIS guitar because I am the artist and HE is the musician.
10 years later, I feel like I’m starting a new chapter in my life. I bought an acoustic guitar. Nothing fancy, but it has the moon phases on it!
Wrestlemania
First of all I gotta say I am generally very easily entertained so I had a blast watching both nights of WrestleMania.
Best Matches IMO
- Punk vs Rollins vs Reigns
- Iyo Sky vs Bianca vs Rhea
- Penta vs Dom vs Finn vs Bron
Feelings Overall
- I wanna get run over by Stone Cold too
- I am team Naomi
- Logan Paul has the same vibe as Johnny Lawrence from Karate Kid
- I knew Cody would lose but not like this
- I hope we see more from Karrion Kross
- Why does Travis Scott call himself Cactus Jack?
- Why does he carry that belt around?
- Did Kardashian money get him here?
- We’ve not forgotten the astro world incident
Shower Thoughts
I find it insane that when watching women’s wrestling I have thoughts like “finally, regular women’s bodies that don’t make me feel like shit.” I am in disbelief that these Superstars make me feel decent about myself lately. It’s because as a society we’ve come to accept more and more unrealistic body expectations from women. I exit tik tok thinking to myself “maybe if I remove some ribs and get a nose job….” vs after watching wrestling it’s just “maybe i should work out more.”
This variety in ethnicities, heights and builds is one of the main things fueling the progression in women’s wrestling. Not even because it makes the viewer feel good or connect. It shows that you don’t need to look like a copy and paste OF model to be valued as a wrestler when the world is making it seem like YOU DO to be valued as a woman.
But even as I type I acknowledge this balance in diversity sits on a tightrope.
AND IT’S JUST SO UNFORTUNATE that people have the audacity to body shame on the internet. BODY DYSMORPHIA affects all kinds of people more and more everyday
ok I’m done rambling for now
question for y’all
What pissed you off this week the most (in wrestling OR life)?
and if you haven’t, take a quiz!
How Annoying Of A Wrestling Fan Are You?
